Jardine Range

The Jardine Range is defined by two Market Profile Points of Control (POC’s) from previous days: the one immediately above the opening price, and the one immediately below opening price. These POC’s must be virgin, i.e. not touched by subsequent price action (“virgin” POC’s are referred to as VPC’s, and are also known as “naked” POC’s). The Jardine Range is significant because prices will logically move towards one of the two range extremes during the day; when that occurs, prices will often reverse or at least pause as traders of all sizes take profits at these obvious price points. Recall that a POC represents the single price point where the market was most comfortable trading for the largest amount of time (or volume) on a given day. A VPC represents an untested price point and, as such, has a much stronger “gravitational pull” to attract market movement.
