Connecting to the #Enthios Room in mIRC:

  1. You can use your existing mIRC Chat Client.
  2. If you do not already have mIRC, you can download a copy here: http://www.mirc.com/get.html

Connecting to Enthios from an existing or downloaded version of mIRC:

  1. Open mIRC

  6. Insert (or change) your personal information as follows:

    Full Name
    Email Address
Nickname  - use the nickname that you registered with Enthios
Alternative - use the same nickname with "1" after it. For example, Enthios1

Make sure that your Nickname and Alternative are exactly as shown above.

  8. you will get a pop up window that says mIRC Channels Folder.  Click on "Close"
  9. In the text input line of the Status window, type these words exactly as they appear:
    /join #enthios

If you cannot get connected, log on to mIRC and dcc us.  Sorry, that's a joke.  email support@netfriend.net

Addendum for setting up mIRC:

  1. To have mIRC connect you automatically each time you start up, click on the Options icon (or click alt + O), expand the IRC folder, then click on Perform.  Enter /join #enthios.
  2. In the same mIRC Options window, expand the Connect folder, click on Options, then make sure that "Connect on startup" is selected and that "Pop up connect dialog on startup" is not selected.
  3. Register your nickname so that nobody else on Othernet can use it.  To do this, once you are signed in under your chosen nickname, type /msg ns register <password> whereby you use any password that is convenient for you.
  4. You will then need to re-authorize this at least once every 20 days. You can do it manually, or you can put this info in your "Perform" section so that mIRC performs the operation automatically every time you start up mIRC.  Type /msg ns auth <password> using the same password that you just registered.

Changing Sounds in mIRC

To edit sounds and colors in mIRC, use the Highlight function.  Click on File -->  Options  --> Highlight.  If you are using the EnthiosIRC, you will notice that sounds and colors have already been set up for you.  If you do not want to receive all of the sound alerts for the different chart types, you can delete the highlighting by clicking on Delete, or you can disable it by clicking on Edit then select Play sound then select No Sound. That way you can use the specific sound alert in the future if you change your mind.
